Yes, they suck
I went to Miya Sushi with a friend of mine. The service and food were terrible. I ordered Spicy Seafood Noodle soup and all it had was loads of cabbage, a few tiny salad shrimp and one mussle. That's it. I complained to an asst. manager and he did absolutely nothing, except hand me the bill. My friend was thoroughly unimpressed with her dish, beef bulgogi. The beef was small, tough and there was little flavor. I'll never go back.
Psychotic Asian Lady
You did not even pay for the bill, your friend paid. No reason to believe anything else you said is true. You are the type of people who servers hate the most. Mentally unbalanced people who create drama for absolutely no sane reason.
Retarded Assistant Manager
How do you know my friend paid the bill? You are obviously employed by this garbage laden establishment. (For the record I gave ca$h to my friend and she used her credit card.) I posted the truth and your rant and juvenile name calling simply show this is no place for anyone to eat at or do business with.
the worst place ever
Their korean food is the worst food ever! expensive and bad service. I went there with my other American friends to introduce Korean food. I felt terrible b/c their food was just literally terrible. don't go there. it's just waste of money and time.
Inaccurate and blanket statements=Miya
I try to visit a restaurant more than once, unless it is new. Miya Sushi's service has been consistently good for years, and their prices are competitive. The last negative review seems to have been written by a competitor- perhaps one of the other new kids on the block in that NW area? Even if none of that was true, the restaurant specializes in Japanese food, not Korean. It is best to judge a restaurant in its main specialty, not something it adds for variety.
Miya has a reputation to uphold
i agree with you on a few parts professor.
their service has been consistently good over the last 8 years that i've known them, though their sushi reputation has dropped considerably the last few years.
And i do agree that you should judge a restaurant on it's specialty, but what you may not know is that when they renovated a couple years ago, they did so with the intent to specialize in Korean food. At least that's what the Korean community was lead to believe. So i know many Koreans that have been disappointed with the results, but that doesn't mean they deserve the comments in the previous post.
I'm replying to this mainly because I work at one of the "new kids on the block" in this "SW" area. And we have a great relationship with Miya sushi. I hate seeing them dogged on by the first post, and i hate the suggestion (though vague) that we may have had something to do with that post.
So Momoyaki says thank you to Miya, and we wish you the best in this stagnant market.
Miya/Korean comments
I did not know about the newer Korean emphasis. Many of the Japanese-themed restaurants are actually Korean run, or Taiwanese run, or... I think the one on SW 13th is the only authentically Japanese-run Japanese restaurant. So thanks for that information. It has been a while since I've set foot inside, although I used to be fairly regular.
Personally, I like the Asian Market behind Hooters on 34th for Korean food.
BTW, I've heard Momoyaki has altered their menu a bit and that it was all to the good.
